We are honeythunder.

Honeythunder is a brown girl fronted, all-queer 4-piece band based out of Philly, bringing indie rock with a punk rock sensibility that punches above its weight class. Honeythunder is made up of Kat Bakrania (she/her; bass and vox), Dan McKeon (they/them; guitar), Bel Furman (she/they; guitar), and Izzy Ross (they/them ; drums). Formed in Fall 2021, Honeythunder released their debut album, “It’s All Crashing,” in May 2023. Their upcoming EP features new singles like “Grip It & Rip It” and “Can’t Stay Away.” Influences include the Cranberries, Arctic Monkeys, Sleater-Kinney, and Nirvana.

Meet The Band

  • Kat Bakrania, Vox & Bass

Kat has been a singer for most of her life, spanning choirs, musicals, operas and dive bars, but picked up the bass for Honeythunder after a few years as a drummer and vocalist in her college band. She is currently a social worker for incarcerated youth and has recently become a cat mom to Chamomile <3

  • Dan McKeon, Guitar

Dan has been playing guitar ever since they were 10 and felt left out when their friends would jam without them. When they aren’t obsessively reorganizing their pedal board, they’re probably bird watching or playing Dungeons and Dragons. Dan also runs a poetry website on the side. It, like music, does not pay well.

  • Bel Furman, Guitar

Bel plays guitar, bass, piano, and vocals. Her favorite thing about music is teaching it, which she's done since 2019. She currently runs an early childhood program where she helps babies learn to rock. Bel likes crossword puzzles, making bread, and cover bands.

  • Izzy Ross, Drums

Izzy started playing drums at 12 years old and is currently a senior at University of the Arts. Their musical influences include Animals as Leaders, Arctic Monkeys and Radiohead, and they have a Pomsky mix named Akira.
